Fluoroscopy is like an ‘x-ray movie.’ At Rejuven Joint Care, we use fluoroscopy to guide injections into tight spaces in order to be sure that injections are where they are supposed to be. According to one study, as much as 25% of ‘blind’ injections into joints (without guidance) miss their intended target, even by experienced providers. Fluoroscopy is a type of x-ray, so there are careful safety precautions in place so that patients remain safe. Additionally, the device that we use is a very low yield machine, so the exposure is similar to that of a cross-country airplane flight. In fact, the machine that we use is one of the safest on the market. It reduces the amount of x-ray automatically to use the least possible to accomplish the image.
